Rebuilding Harbin is an opportunity to use efficient building methods and implement the alternative energy systems. In the 90’s, solar was installed to the Harbin Domes to take advantage of Harbin’s abundant sunshine. With some exceptions such as the Domes, almost all of Harbin’s pre-fire guest facility buildings were turn of the century historic structures. Beautiful and ever so precious, like antiques, the buildings were, and will always be cherished. The “character” and charm of the original historic hotel buildings is irreplaceable. But the future offers us an opportunity to address rebuilding with the understanding and awareness of the importance of sustainable technology and energy efficiency. We work closely with Northern California architect, Lars Langberg Architects, using the most appropriate and environmentally friendly materials and building strategies. larsarchitects Having experts in sustainable building techniques helps Harbin build for a future that will sustain many generations.

Solar panels cover The Domes parking lot.
EV Charging Stations We now offer two EV Charging Stations. We look forward to adding even more in the future.
Pools Harbin’s pools are heated with the natural temperatures of the hot spring water. The newer hot plunge is heated with an energy efficient heating system to maintain a constant temperature.
Housekeeping: By encouraging guests to reuse their towels and linens for a few days if posible, rather than automatically offering these services daily if unnecessary we save thousands of gallons of water each year.
Low Waste To reduce waste, we do not provide individual use shampoo or conditioners. Soap is provided for lodging and at the showers.
Irrigation Harbin's irrigation water utilized for pool-area hosing – as well as lawn and garden irrigation – comes from the lively little creek that flows through the mainside area.
Low flow restroom fixtures are water conserving.
Storage holding tanks maintain a steady water supply.
